Winning At Play: CityVille Secrets

Downtime is not a luxury—it is a vital requirement of mental, emotional, and physical health. So says examiner.com. One good way to unwind and forget your worries is by playing video games. According to wonderlandblog.com, a study has shown that “gamers, aged between 12 and 83, were more likely to feel calm or tired after playing“.

One of the most popular currently is CityVille. These types of resource management games aren’t intended for the “hardcore gamer”, but they’re so accessible and easy to learn, and thus, there are a LOT of people playing them. Games like Cityville and Farmville CAN get addictive and competitive as you get into them though.

If you’re interested in improving your cityville abilities, here are some extensive, inexpensive PDF guides I’ve found online. Take your pick and let us know if they’ve improved the cityville experience for you!

The Paleo Diet: Healthy, But What to Make For Dinner?

Looking to eat healthy, like nature has evolved our bodies to do, and keep your weight down while still consuming delicious meals? Here’s the recipe book you’re after: The Paleo Recipe Book. Never heard of the paleo diet?  Read on…

cover2 The Paleo Diet: Healthy, But What to Make For Dinner?

According to the Wikipedia article on the “Paleolithic Diet”, changes in the way we’ve been eating since the industrial revolution have “fundamentally altered several key nutritional characteristics of the human diet since the Paleolithic era, including glycemic load, fatty acid composition, macronutrient composition, micronutrient density, acid-base balance, sodium-potassium ratio, and fiber content.”

Basically, the Paleo Diet tells us that since our bodies and genetics haven’t changed much since the Paleolithic era, 10,000 years ago, we should go back to eating like we did back then.

I’ve personally never tried a strict Paleo Diet before, but it does have a lot of similarities with the “slow carb” diet I was on after reading Tim Ferriss’ “4-Hour Body”; minimal grains, dairy and sugar. Don’t let that scare you though. There’s PLENTY of flavor left for you here. The author, Sébastien Noël, is NOT of the opinion that you need to give up flavor! When you buy the book, you also get a spice guide, meal plan, and “quick and simple meals” book.

This PDF e-book definitely seems worth what they’re charging; especially with the bonus material. Give it a shot and let us know what you think in the comments! It’s a downloadable product so there’s no shipping costs, and no waiting to get down to cooking! And if you don’t like it, there’s always the 60-day…

“Shortcuts” or “Skipping the Ineffective”; Whatever It’s Called, Why Not Use It?

According to Wikipedia, “An effective dose (ED) in pharmacology is the dose or amount of drug that produces a therapeutic response or desired effect in some fraction of the subjects taking it.”

Tim Ferriss, author of “The 4 Hour Body“, applies this concept to his workouts. According to him, “The minimum effective dose (MED) is defined simply: the smallest dose that will produce a desired outcome. Anything beyond the MED is wasteful.”

mikepic1 Shortcuts or Skipping the Ineffective; Whatever Its Called, Why Not Use It?Why exert energy that’s not contributing to your goals? Certified Personal Trainer Mike Chang also seems to be appling this concept in his training. He actually gives away a lot of info on his website and youtube channel, so definitely check them out even if you’re not buying hisSix Pack Shortcuts. It never hurts to benefit from someone else’s work and experience!

Myself, I’ve only had great looking abs once or twice in my life. They’re a lot of work and no, they’re not of the most important things in the world, but man do they look and feel great!

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that most exercise products on the market WORK. I think it would be harder to come up with exercises that do nothing than ones that help. The only reason people fail to attain their goals very basic: No Follow-through. People give up, or do things improperly or skip steps along the way.

The good news: it IS possible to work out smarter. Just as it’s possible to waste time on exercises and meal plans that are irrelevant to your goals; it’s also possible to optimize your results-to-work ratio. You’ll have to work, yes; but why drag it out more than you have to?

I’ve already read the four hour body, and done the slow-carb diet; now I’m really thinking about trying Mike Chang’s 6 Pack shortcut plan. Mike is a ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, and is he trying to make a buck? Yes, but why not? This man didn’t get to look as good as he does by not learning things. If he can make 6-pack abs sustainable for me, I may be willing to give this a try.

If you’ve tried it and have an opinion, let us know in the comments!
